State Priorities Questioned as Justice Remains Elusive for Six Naga Brothers

The Naga Women’s Union raises concern over the state priorities to Kuki Militants and its Community amid unresolved atrocity against 6 Naga brothers and the imbalance in governmental priorities to Kuki Militants and community. As justice remains elusive in the abduction, torture, and brutal murder of 6 innocent Naga brothers.

The press release of Naga Women’s Union stated that “a month and a half have passed since the victims were abducted on 13 May and subsequently found dead in a mutilated, beheaded, and dismembered condition on 10th June, 2026. The barbaric nature of the crime shocked the conscience of the Naga people and drew widespread condemnation from civil society, human rights advocates, and concerned citizens. Yet, despite repeated appeals, public representations, and demands for accountability, there has been no visible progress in identifying and prosecuting those perpetrators from local to high political elites and top insurgency, KNP-P.

“The Union is particularly disturbed that COBRA Unit, CRPF and others continue to facilitate and escort the movement of different sections of Kuki community through Naga-inhabited areas while the families of the six victims continue to mourn without answers or justice. For many Nagas, especially the bereaved families and affected communities, these actions are deeply painful and difficult to comprehend.

“The Naga Women’s Union questions for no urgency in apprehending those perpetrators for the most horrific crime committed by Kuki Militants. The victim families and the Naga community continue to await justice for the six slain civilians. The display of excessive force and high action at the wee hours on 24th June, 2026 at Namdilong, Kanglatongbi against civilians by security agencies is deeply unfortunate and disturbing. The Government and security forces must exercise utmost restraint and sensitivity in the affected areas. Any untoward incident arising from such actions will be the responsibility of the Governments.

“The Naga Women’s Union firmly assert that the foremost responsibility of the State is to secure justice for the victims by ensuring an impartial and time-bound investigation leading to prosecution of all perpetrators of the crime. Justice for the six innocent victims must not be overshadowed by any other administrative or political consideration.

“In light of these serious concerns and prevailing circumstances, the transportation of the alleged perpetrating community should be suspended until a concrete and transparent decision is reached by the competent authorities” stated the press release issued by the Information and Publicity Cell, Naga Women’s Union.
