The All Naga Students’ Association Manipur (ANSAM) in its Emergency Assembly held at 3 June 2026 at Ukhrul Headquarters hosted by Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) has deliberated on the existing prevailing situations and has resolved to resort to different forms of intensified agitation starting with a march toward Imphal passing through Ukhrul-Imphal NH 202 on June 4, 2026 with all the units of the Association to meet the 6 Naga hostages victim’s families at Makhan village and all concerns.

Three key decisions were taken during the Emergency Assembly:

1. To boycott the State government after due consultation with all stakeholders for effective implementation of the same.

2. The Assembly endorsed the formation of an Action Committee.

3. The Association will take up a peaceful march starting from Ukhrul to Makhan.

The march begins at 01:00pm at Ukhrul Headquarters led by the President of ANSAM and its constituent units.

Briefing the media at Ukhrul Headquarters, President of ANSAM, Th. Angteshang Maring stated that “following the expiry of the ultimatum issued by the Association to the Government of Manipur and the concerned authorities to establish the whereabouts of the six Naga hostages, an Emergency Assembly was convened on June 3, 2026 at Ukhrul District Headquarter hosted by Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) to deliberate on the prevailing situation.

The press release of ANSAM stated that “the Assembly observed with profound disappointment that despite the lapse of the stipulated deadline, no concrete information regarding the safety, whereabouts, or status of the six hostages has been made available to their families or the Naga people. The prolonged silence and lack of visible progress have further intensified the anxiety and suffering of the victim’s families and the Naga people at large.

“Therefore, the Assembly while reaffirming the decision of the emergency presidential council meeting demanding the state Government to establish the condition and position of the six (6) Naga hostages abducted on May 13, 2026 at Leilon Vaiphei during a braod daylight by KNF(P) along with the Leilon Vaiphei villagers and handover to the victim’s families and the Naga people. The house resolved to resort to different forms of intensified agitation starting with a march toward Imphal passing through Ukhrul-Imphal NH 202 on June 4, 2026 with all the units of the Association to meet the 6 Naga hostages victim’s families at Makhan village and all concerns.

“Also, taking cognizance of the fact that the prevailing exigencies requires inclusiveness amongst Naga Community, the house stressed that decision of presidential council for boycotting the state government needs wider consultation for effective implementation of the same. Therefore, resolve to endorse the ANSAM Executives Council and its Units to conduct intensive consultation with all stake holders.

“Further, the house have resolved to form an action committee on the prevailing situation in Naga homeland to be constituted by the executive council by nominating former leaders of the Association as the committee members.

“The Association make it unequivocally clear that, any untoward incident during the democratic march along Imphal-Ukhrul Raod(NH 202), the Central and State government shall be held responsible.

“ANSAM remains committed to pursuing all democratic and peaceful means available until justice is delivered to the affected communities and the six hostages are reunited with their families. The suffering endured by the families of the hostages cannot be ignored, and every possible effort must be made to bring them home safely” stated the press release signed by Th. Angteshang Maring President of ANSAM and Isaac Charenamei, General Secretary of ANSAM.
