Tahamzam Youth Forum Slams KIM, KZC & KOHUR Press Statement

The Tahamzam Youth Forum (TYF) has categorically slammed the press statement issued by Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) and Kuki Organization For Human Rights (KOHUR) as nothing but hypocrisy and insult to truth and public conscience.TYF also calls for remover of Nemcha Kipgen, Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur from her current position with immediate effect.

The press communique of TYF stated that “humanity is proven through actions, not press statements. The latest press statements issued by Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), Kuki-Zo Council (KZC), Kuki Organization for Human Rights (KOHUR) preaching “humanity”, “Peace” and “Christian Values” is nothing short of shocking hypocrisy and a direct insult to truth and public conscience.

“How can KIM suddenly speak about humanity today when on May 18, 2026, it out-rightly denied the custody and existence of the six Naga hostages abducted on May 13 while travelling with their wives, children and relatives? The United Naga Council (UNC) on May 19 clearly exposed the entire sequence of events with eyewitness accounts, names, vehicle details, and testimonies from surviving victims. Even the released hostages have publicly shared their ordeal through the media. Yet KIM shamelessly chose denial over truth.

“Where was this “humanity” when innocent Naga civilians were dragged away in front of their families? Where was this humanitarian concern when repeated appeals from Naga civil organizations and families were ignored while KIM chose contradictory narratives instead of accountability?

“KIM and its refugee militants must also not forget the genuine humanitarian gestures shown by the Naga people. The Naga Village Guard, Northern Command unconditionally released Mr. Rajesh, a Meitei origin with Kuki Affiliation, Mr. Pasat Chongloi, a drug addict and minor girl Ms. Hatneimoi Lupheng purely on humanitarian grounds without discrimination based on identity or affiliation. Among the hostages received by the Naga side on 15th May 2026 when 14 each were exchanged, were even two Nepali individuals, yet the Nagas gladly accepted and ensured their safety because, for the Nagas, being human was enough. That is real humanity.

“The Kuki people should also remember the kindness shown by Maralui Karalimei Swijoikang (MKS), under whose leadership all Kuki students studying at Don Bosco College (Autonomous), Maram were protected and ensured safety during the height of tension. The same applies to the Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA) and its federating units, which since May 3, 2023 till today have continuously ensured the safety, peaceful movement, and protection of countless individuals from Kuki community across Senapati and surrounding areas. Hospitals, markets, institutions, and roads remained safe because responsible Naga organizations chose humanity over hatred.

“Yet despite all these acts of goodwill, KIM and its supporters continue spreading propaganda, character assassination and self-contradictory narratives while pretending to occupy the moral high ground.

“Even today, the Naga Village Guard, Northern Command demonstrated maturity and humanity by expressing readiness to exchange the 14 detainees under their custody for the six Naga hostages under Kuki refugee militants’ custody. But while innocent lives remain uncertain, KIM continues issuing hypocritical statements instead of showing sincerity and accountability.

“We call upon the government of Manipur to remove Nemcha Kipgen, Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur from her current position with immediate effect, consequent upon her refusal to resign on moral ground, for her husband’s role in the forceful abduction and consequent disappearance of 6 Naga hostages since the 13th May 2026. Her husband being at the helm of a terrorist group directly responsible for the heinous act, she has no locus standi, whatsoever, to represent her people in the assembly, let alone, being a part of a popularly elected government. Manipur people do not deserve to be governed by someone whose spouse is directly responsible for creating social mayhem and is the very reason as to why the state has been plunged into this stark situation.

“Do not mistake the Naga people’s kindness for weakness. Do not mistake restraint for silence. And above all, do not preach humanity while denying truth, justifying hostage-taking, and emotionally tormenting innocent families.

“The people, the coming generations, and every right-thinking individual can now judge for themselves what kind of “humanity” Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) truly stands for.

“Denial cannot erase reality. Propaganda cannot bury the truth. And hypocrisy can never represent humanity” stated the press communique issued by Media and Publicity Wing, TYF.
