Kuki CSO: NSCN (EF)'s Brazen Defiance Despite Heavy Security Presence

The sustained assaults on Kuki villages no longer reflect mere persistence-they epitomize calculated audacity of the highest order. In brazen disregard of heavy security deployment, NSCN (EF) has once again executed a premeditated act of aggression.

The statement issued by the Kuki CSO Working Committee Ukhrul, Department of Information and Media stated that “in the early hours of 4th May 2026, at approximately 3:00 AM, NSCN (EF) cadres, bolstered by its mobilised militants, attempted a forceful intrusion through the Tongou pocket of the Kampa range. The attackers unleashed indiscriminate fire, provoking a defensive retaliation by Kuki village volunteers at the Uiliphoi-Bollen ridge of Mt. Kampa (border shared by Chepu Yaolen, Lamlai Chingphei, Shongphel and Mulam with Tongou Tangkhul Village) well within the jurisdictional area of Kuki Villages. The exchange left one volunteer critically injured, underscoring the grave risks borne by civilians defending their land and livelihood.

“There is an alarming and credible report that NSCN (EF) audaciously approached security forces stationed at Sinakeithei, seeking an unconscionable three-day window of non-intervention to carry out the elimination of Kukis in Ukhrul. Such a reprehensible proposition, made with apparent confidence, raises an unavoidable and pressing question-has this request, in any measure, been entertained?

“The pattern, precision, and persistence of these incursions point to a deliberate campaign to destabilize, intimidate, and sabotage peace efforts. In light of these egregious developments, we demand the immediate initiation of a comprehensive combing operation across the Tongou-Ringui belt to neutralize hostile elements and prevent further incursions into forest and farming areas.

“Perpetrating violence while feigning victimhood is a calculated deceit that must be exposed. What this moment demands is firm, impartial, and decisive action” added the statement issued by the Department of Information and Media, WCKCSOS-Ukhrul.
