Rebuttal Of Malicious Social Media Propaganda Alleging Involvement Of NSCN/GPRN In The Kotzim Ambush

The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) issues this press statement to strongly refute and condemn the baseless, malicious, and fabricated news items currently circulating on various social media platforms. The viral posts falsely allege the involvement of NSCN cadres in the tragic ambush and killing of three (3) Thadou Baptist Association India (TBAI) church leaders-Rev. Dr. Vumthang Sithou, Rev. Kaigoulun Lhouvum, and Pastor Paogoulen Sitlhou-near Kotzim in Kangpokpi District on May 13, 2026.

“We explicitly state that no NSCN cadres or hands were involved in that tragic incident in any manner whatsoever” stated the press statement issued by MIP -NSCN/GPRN

The public must be apprised of the following facts to dismiss this deliberate disinformation campaign:

1. Absolute Non-Involvement: The NSCN had no knowledge, connection, or role in the armed ambush on the peace-loving religious leaders. Pointing fingers at our organization is a calculated attempt by vested interests to disrupt the fragile peace, misdirect official investigations, and create communal disharmony.

2. Clarification on Personnel: The viral social media posts have deliberately manipulated names and fabricated details regarding our organization. We categorically clarify that there is no individual named MS Chekneichung Chiru @ Achung in the rank and file of the NSCN. The inclusion of this name in connection with our organization is entirely fictitious, uncalled for, and defamatory.

3. Support for Justice: The NSCN stands with the bereaved families and the wider Christian community grieving this immense loss. We respect the National Investigation Agency (NIA)’s formal takeover of the probe. We fully support a transparent, unbiased, and thorough investigation by central agencies to bring the actual perpetrators of the Kotzim ambush to justice.

NSCN/GPRN urged the public, media houses, and social media users to exercise restraint and verify facts before sharing unauthenticated rumors. The NSCN will not tolerate further attempts to malign its image through fake news and reserves the right to counter such propaganda with all necessary measures.

The Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), NSCN/GPRN
