Government of Manipur Responses To TNL Demand; Agrees To Some Of Its Demands

The Tangkhul Naga Long has made certain demands to the Government of Manipur regarding the killing of two Tangkhul Nagas on 18 April 2026 at TM Kasom, Ukhrul District, Manipur along the National Highway 202.

The Manipur Government while extending its deepest condolences has agreed to some of the demands made by the TNL.

The letter written by Deputy CM of Manipur, Losii Dikho addressed to the President of Tangkhul Naga Long, Sword Vashum stated that, “I on behalf of the Government of Manipur hereby give my assurance to the demands made by the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) regarding the unfortunate incident that took place on the 18th of April at TM Kasom Village in Ukhrul district. The Government of Manipur extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved family of the two deceased.”

The Government of Manipur has agreed the following:

1. The Case will be immediately handed over to the NIA

2. Ex Gratia will be paid to the next of kin of the deceased and compassionate appointment of a service to the nearest kin.

3. All necessary medical assistance will be given to the injured in the incident.

4. Compensation will be given for the damaged vehicles and property as applicable

A condolence service for the two departed souls was organised at the District Hospital, Ukhrul at 03:00 pm on Sunday. Ex-servicemen Indian Army also gave their honour and salute to the deceased Havildar SW. Chinaoshang.

The postmortems of the two deceased had been conducted by a team of Forensic experts from Imphal and their bodies will be taken to their respective villages today for burials.
