The Kuki CSOs Working Committee Ukhrul has blamed the incident at TM Kasom on 18 April 2026, where two lives were lost around 2:30 PM, as the result of internal conflict involving NSCN (Eastern Flank) and NSCN-IM.
The statement issued by the Department of Information and Media, WCKCSOs-Ukhrul stated that “WCKCSOs strongly condemns the reckless violence being followed by baseless attempts to blame the Kuki community without evidence. We have always stood for peace and harmony and continue to do so.
“Preliminary evidence indicates that the incident at TM Kasom, where two lives were lost around 2:30 PM, was the result of internal conflict involving NSCN (Eastern Flank) and NSCN-IM.
“Available visuals point to a planned ambush, making attempts to implicate Kukis both illogical and unfounded.
“The repeated pattern of violence followed by blame-shifting appears to be a deliberate effort to hide internal divisions among such groups.
“The unprovoked firing at Mongkot Chepu since around 4:40 PM today further reflects attempts to escalate and divert attention.
“We will pursue legal action against media houses spreading unverified and defamatory reports targeting the Kuki community.
“We extend our condolences to the bereaved families and urge the public not to fall for misinformation” issued by the Department of Information and Media, WCKCSOs-Ukhrul
