TNFO Refutes The Allegation Made by Kuki CSO

The Tangkhul Naga Foothills Organisation (TNFO) strongly refutes the allegations made by the Kuki CSO Working Committee, Ukhrul, Ref. No. WC/PR30/04/26 in its recent “Call for Action” statement dated 16 April 2026.

The statement reads, “there is no presence of NSCN (IM) operating from Sinakeithel village. The claims that cadres of NSCN (IM) are active in the area is completely baseless and appears to be an attempt to mislead authorities and the public. The mention of an individual named “Col. Chipemi” is entirely fictitious. No such person exists in Sinakeithel or in connection with any local structure. This raises serious concern about the credibility of the claims being made.

“The so-called “armed volunteers” of Sinakeithel are not militant elements, but village volunteers acting purely in self-defence. Multiple reports from the ground indicate that village volunteers have responded only after repeated incidents of firing allegedly linked to Kuki SoO militant groups targeting nearby villages. Contrary to the narrative being projected, there have been consistent allegations from Tangkhul bodies that Kuki SoO militants initiated firing incidents in areas like Sinakeithel, Litan, and surrounding regions, forcing local villagers to defend themselves.

“The TNFO views the statement of the Kuki CSO as a deliberate attempt to distort ground realities, shift blame, and portray aggressors as victims. Such unverified claims only escalate tensions and undermine peace efforts.

We urge:

Security forces and authorities to verify facts independently

All organisations to refrain from issuing misleading statements

Immediate steps to ensure neutral and transparent investigation.

“The situation in Ukhrul district remains sensitive. Issuing unverified and fabricated claims such as the presence of non-existent individuals or groups only deepens mistrust and fuels further conflict. The Tangkhul Naga Foothills Organisation reiterates that village volunteers are acting defensively in protection of their land and people, not as offensive militant actors” stated the statement issued by the Information & Publicity Cell, Central Working Committee, TNFO
