The Zingsho Katamnao Long (ZKL) +an apex body of the student community of Eastern Tangkhuls, has taken a strong exception of the manipulated press communiqué issued by the Chassad Youth Club (CYC) over the firing incident that occurred at Chassad-Kamjong areas at around 8.30pm on the 23rd of March 2026. Whereas, it has been an established fact that the Kuki armed groups resorted to several rounds of gunfire including sophisticated weapons, the Chassad Youth Club (CYC) has brazenly and falsely asserted that the violent act was committed by the Tangkhul militants. The CYC’s fabricated statement issued today is seen as a direct affront to the Tangkhul Naga community, and could not be accepted under any circumstances.

In this regard, the ZKL demands that the Chassad Youth Club withdraw their concocted press statement and tender unconditional apology to the Tangkhul Naga community within 24 hours from midnight of 24th March 2026. In the event of failure to comply with this directive, we will adopt every possible counter-measure against the Kukis residing within the jurisdiction of Zingsho Katamnao Long.

Meanwhile, the ZKL expresses strong objection against the disarmament order issued by the District Magistrate of Kamjong today. “The order released under the Arms Act, 1959 stated that all licensed arm holders within the Kamjong Sub Division to surrender at the nearest police station, which is totally uncalled for and illogical in any sense. In the ongoing conflict and constant threats posed by the heavily armed Kuki militants, the civil populace of Tangkhul Naga community has been depending on the licensed arm for safety and protection. The public are well aware of the fact that the State and Central security forces has totally failed to ensure law and order against the excesses committed by the armed Kuki groups in our land. If at all the State government is serious in restoring law and order in the hills, a concrete measure should be taken up to seize all illegal arms possessed by the Kukis and restrict the Kuki militants within their designated camps” stated the press release issued by the Media Cell, Zingsho Katamnao Long.
