For a former entrepreneur now an elected member representing 48-Mao Assembly Constituency for the third consecutive terms, the journey has been a roller coaster ride for newly sworn in Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur, Losii Dikho. A journey completing its 15th year in March this year as an elected member since 2012, the rise continues with bigger administrative responsibilities and political baggage. But now equipped with political experiences, huge followers and acceptance from his critics and rivals as people’s Minister, the new Deputy CM is a man to watch for his down to earth attitude towards every community, humility and most importantly trouble shooter skills he mastered over the years.

Right from day one after the swearing in ceremony at Lok Bhavan (formerly known as Raj Bhavan) on 4th February, 2026, Losii Dikho wasted no time to reach out to different communities in the trouble torn Manipur. On 7th February, despite opposition and disapproval from a certain section of people, Dikho travelled to Motbung and visited Compassion Children home, Theological College and interacted with Thadou youths and CSO leaders.

On 8th February, He immediately invited the Foothills Naga Co-coordinating Committee (FNCC) and Joint Tribe Council (JTC) leaders comprising of different Naga communities and held a marathon three hours discussion to de-escalate the increasing tension alleging negligence of Government and non-adherence of MoU signed between GoM & FNCC/JTC regarding closure of Kangpokpi to Churachandpur alternate road. The meeting of Deputy CM and the two bodies was held over the past few days continuously to resolve the matter which is likely to come to understanding soon.

On 9th February, despite huge security concerns due to volatile law and order situation, Losii Dikho travelled to Litan by road with minimum security escorts to meet the people. Amidst blazing guns and whizzing bullets passing the roof top of the meeting site he waited for 2 hours and met both the communities involved in the said conflict in the presence of different stakeholders and Government officials. The Deputy CM also personally surveyed those houses destroyed in the unfortunate incident and assured compensation while appealing for peace amongst different groups. The situation was de-escalated immediately with intervention of different CSOs and additional forces deployed at the site.

On 14th February, 2026, the Deputy CM landed at Churachandpur DHQ becoming the first elected member from Manipur Government to reach the District after nearly three years into the ongoing conflict. He held a closed door meeting with Zomi Council and its nine constituent units and deliberated on different issues. The Deputy CM also acknowledged the open hearted welcome of the Zomi council who raised concerns related to IDPs financial issues and other agendas.

The Deputy CM has again decided to go to Churachandpur on 20th February and attended the Zomi Nam Ni 2026 as the Chief Guest and interacted with their leaders assuring maximum assistance to the IDPs and restoration of peace & normalcy in Manipur. He also announced the approval of 5 crore multi-purpose hall and 5 crore artificial turf ground at Lamka under CSR funding.

Before leaving for New Delhi on 21st February noon for Government expansion process, Losii Dikho held another round of talks with FNCC/JTC leaders at his official residence where they finally resolved to open the blockade imposed on Kangpokpi to Churachandpur alternate route. Thereby breaking the embargo which was left without any solution since past one month. The new development manifested the growing responsibilities and ability to master situation to restore peace amongst different communities of Manipur and also bring normalcy in the State which has eluded for the past 3 years. For the new Deputy CM, the focus is now fitting in as the main Trouble shooter role in the new popular Govt. headed by Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand.

The induction of Mao A/C MLA Losii Dikho who is a Naga as Deputy Chief Minister is a wise and well-calculated game changing political mastermind of the Center Leaders on a leader representing a neutral community without favoring any conflicting community in resolving sensitive issues and bottlenecks hampering for bringing peace in Manipur. The move to include a neutral community in the State’s political helm with higher responsibilities will definitely benefit the State Government and most importantly different communal groups in the State.
