The 66th edition of Northern Raphei Students’ Union (NRSU) General Conference Cum Literary, Cultural and Sports Meet under the theme “Today’s Effort, Tomorrow’s Legacy” kickstarted today at Jessami Village, Ukhrul District, Manipur.
Hosted by Jessami Student’s Union (JSU) the inaugural programme was attended by MLA Khashim Vashum as chief guest and Wezope A Lohe, Ex-ADC as guest of honour.
The inaugural ceremony opened with the performance of “Tsosuwhii” involving a symbolic procession where the honoured guests of the inaugural events were pulled and carried by the local community in a traditional attire as a symbol of respect and cultural pride.
Khashim Vashum unveils the NRSU Conference monolith. He expresses his utmost desire for fostering peace and prosperity in the region. Khashim Vashum appealed to the Union to harmonise and stand firm for closer attachment as one family. He emphasized the need and importance of prioritizing development initiatives in the state’s border areas, which have long been neglected due to the geographical isolation. In his closing remarks, he encouraged local communities to foster love, support, and positive relations – not just among themselves, but also with neighboring villages, including those in Nagaland.
The 66th NRSU Meet 2026 will wind up on 14 January 2026. A total of 14 units including the host Jessami are attending the event.
