Poppy Destruction: 436 Acres Destroyed, 51 Huts Burnt And 3 FIRs Lodged

In a joint operation carried out by the personnel of Ukhrul District Police, 6th Battalion Manipur Rifles, Border Security Forces, Forest Department Ukhrul, District Revenue Department, Ukhrul, NAB, 4th Mahar Regiment, 8th Bihar Regiment and Assam Rifles, 436 acres of poppy cultivation had been destroyed, 51 huts razed, poppy pods seized and 3 FIRs had been registered.

Ukhrul Police informed that “as part of the first phase of the illicit poppy destruction drive beginning from 11-15 November 2025 at the hill ranges under Litan Police Station, Somdal Police Station and LM Police Station, a total area of around 436 acres of poppy cultivation was destroyed during the 5 days operation. The team also destroyed 51 huts and seized poppy pods for adducing evidence. The Ukhrul Police has lodged 3 FIR -one each at the Police Station of Litan, Somdal and LM and registered cases in this connection.”

The drive against poppy destruction will continue in the coming days informed Ukhrul Police
