The United Naga Council (UNC) while appreciating the swift action of the law enforcing agency in nabbing the perpetrators of the heinous crime appeal to the state authorities to look into the matter earnestly and book all the criminals involved at the earliest and give exemplary punishment upon the perpetrators to meet the ends of justice.

The statement issued by James Hau, Information & Publicity Secretary of UNC stated that, “the United Naga Council is shocked to learn the occurrence of an undesirable and ugly incident wherein the lives of the leaders of the Monsang Students’ Union were put in danger and imperiling the peace in the state. The Council in no uncertain terms condemns the dastardly act meted out upon the Monsang (STS) students’ leaders, namely Mr. Gedion Kiiri, President, Mr. Wanglar Phillip, General Secretary, Mr. Ts. Hollyson and Mr. Th. Moni senior leaders of STS by the miscreants on October 30, 2025, near Bijoypur between Kakching Lamkhai and Pallel, while they were returning home to Chandel. We question the motive behind such a cruel act of dehumanization that can trigger communal tension in the state.

“Taking cognizance over the severity of the said incident, which has deeply hurt the sentiment of the Nagas, especially the students and youths in particular, the responsible bodies of the community involved in perpetrating crimes are asked to own up responsibility to contain the situation and to settle the matter at the earliest. The council also would like to caution all concerned to maintain restraint and seek justice through peaceful means as per Naga customary laws.

“While appreciating the swift action of the law enforcing agencies, we appeal to state authorities to look into the matter earnestly and book all the criminals involved at the earliest and give exemplary punishment upon the perpetrators to meet the ends of justice.

Meanwhile, the Manipur Police on 31 October 2025 posted that “in connection with the physical assault of four students on the night of 30.10.2025 near Bijoypur along Kakching Lamkhai–Pallel Road by unknown persons, today on 31.10.2025, Manipur Police have arrested five persons in relation to the case.

The arrested persons are:

2. Mayengbam Manglem Singh (22) of Pallel Chandel Lamkhai,

3. Nepram Jitan Singh (18) of Pallel Thong Wangma,

4. Moirangthem Chinglei Meitei (19) of Pallel Thong Wangma, and
