The Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, Asish Das (IAS), has called upon the people of Ukhrul for a brain storming session to Unlock Vision Ukhrul on 20 October 2025 at TTA Smart Hall, Hamleikhong, Hungpung.

Speaking at an event organised by TTA on Monday, DC of Ukhrul, Asish Das had urged the people of Ukhrul to be a part of the movement in showing the Ukhrul Model to the rest of the world. “The people of Ukhrul have to develop their own model of development. Give space to everyone. Let everyone chip in with their ideas so that together we can develop Vision Ukhrul.”

Asish Das added “the requirements of the village are known by the villagers and is to be decided by the villagers and not some outsiders or social workers. Duplication of works will be strictly checked. Ownership by the people, sincerity of the people is the need of the hour for bringing any development or changes in the society. I never thought I would be an IAS Officer, I have never heard of Ukhrul before I became an IAS officer and joined the Manipur cadre. But now I am here as an administrator of Ukhrul. Maybe, I was sent here for a mission.”

“I am told that Ukhrul was once an education hub. There were many educated people from Ukhrul. Why can’t we make Ukhrul great with its tremendous resources. Ukhrul is not a curse, the community must demand unitedly for development and that is the Vision for Ukhrul. We can reach out to the people in power as one. I would like to request the leaders, intellectuals and all the stakeholders to come and give their input and ideas and make Vision Ukhrul a reality. The church has a very important role to play because I know it is one of the most influential institutes and a force to reckon with” added Asish Das.

He further continued “people should demand from the Government. This is not for my selfish gain but for the people of Ukhrul. Give uninterrupted 6 months so that construction of the road from Yaingangpokpi to Finch Corner can be completed.”

The Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul has specifically invited journalists and social media influencers to cover the events for maximum reach to the people of Ukhrul District.
