SANSA Submits Memorandum To Amit Shah On Relocation Of Kuki Militants Designated Camps

The Sagolmang Area Naga Students’ Association (SANSA) on Thursday submitted a memorandum to Amit Shah, Hon’ble Union Home Minister, Government of India New Delhi, through Ajay Kumar Bhalla, the Hon’ble Governor of Manipur on complete relocation of Kuki Militant Designated Camp (Sinai Camp) at Sijang, Saikul P.S., Kangpokpi District, and all other such designated camps in the surrounding areas.

The memorandum signed by Shankhui Raikhan, President of SANSA and NW Joyngam Vashum, General Secretary of SANSA stated that “we, the undersigned, representing the Sagolmang Area Naga Students’ Association (SANSA), write this memorandum with utmost solemnity and urgency to seek your immediate intervention.

“That, sir, on 8th September 2025, armed Kuki militants operating from the designated Sinai Camp intercepted a passenger bus at Molnom along the Sinakeithei-Imphal route. The militants forcibly confiscated passengers’ mobile phones to check for recordings of their camp and fired a blank shot, creating panic and terror among innocent civilians.

“This is not an isolated act but part of an alarming pattern of intimidation and lawlessness. Such incidents have rendered this arterial road unsafe for commuters. Passenger vehicles and taxis have ceased plying, crippling the daily lives of the residents of SANSA villages who solely depend on this route.”

“We respectfully but firmly submit the following:

1. The Sinai Camp is located within the ancestral lands of the Naga people. Under no circumstances can a militant camp of the Kuki group be permitted to operate within this territory.

2. The continued presence of this camp is illegal, unconstitutional, and an open affront to the security, dignity, and survival of the Naga people.

3. The existence of other such designated camps in the surrounding areas poses a grave and constant threat to peace, emboldens further acts of intimidation, and could result in escalated violence.

4. Failure to relocate the said camps would risk provoking serious communal unrest in the offing which is undesirable.

5. It is the constitutional duty of the Government of India to protect the lives, rights, and dignity of all its citizens, including the Naga people of this region.

“In view of the above, we strongly demand:

The immediate and complete relocation of the Kuki militant designated camp (Sinal Camp) at Sijang, Saikul P.S., Kangpokpi District, along with all other such designated camps operating in the surrounding areas.

“Deployment of adequate neutral security forces to secure the Sinakeithei-Imphal route and guarantee safe passage for civilians.

“A permanent, written assurance that no militant camp, present or future, shall be allowed to exist within Naga ancestral lands.

“We urge you to take swift and decisive action before the situation escalates beyond control. Timely intervention will not only restore peace and normalcy but also reaffirm the commitment of the Government of India to bring justice, equality, and the rule of law.”
