A landslide at two portion along the stretch of Ngahui-Chingai PWD road has cut off any vehicular movement along the border area.
Villagers informed that due to the incessant rain, a landslide has occured at two portion- just about 7km and another at about 9km from from Ngahui Junction.
“A large portion of the road has been blocked by the landslide and has completely cut off the road from any vehicular movement” informed villagers.
Yangmi Ruivah, Chairman of Chingai Village has issued a public notice stating that “it is hereby notified that all travellers to and from Chingai and neighbouring villages via the Ngahui-Chingai PWD road are advised to refrain from using this stretch until further notice, in the interest of public safety.”
“The matter has already been taken up with Hon’ble MLA Khashim Vashum and the concerned department for necessary action” added the notice
Border villagers coming back from Ukhrul are stranded in the middle of the road. The connecting road is the lifeline of the villagers living in the border area.
