Landslide triggered by incessant rain has occured at various places of Ukhrul District, Manipur.
Sources informed that, after deploying machineries, the Ngahui-Chingai PWD Road is fully cleared and restored for safe travels.
A landslide also occured at Ukhrul-Teinem Road and completely block vehicular movement. The landslide was cleared this morning and commuters have resumed normal vehicle movement. The swift response by the concerned authority has made it possible.
The Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, Asish Das (IAS) informed Rural Post that “maximum clearance work are being taken up to ensure smooth vehicular movement. But some are beyond our capacity, that’s why the delay.”
Chairman of Chingai Village, Yangmi Ruivah stated that “We place on record our heartfelt appreciation to Hon’ble MLA of 45-Chingai AC, Khashim Vashum for his prompt and decisive intervention in deploying machinery within 24 hours of the incident. His consistent commitment to the welfare of the people and his timely actions in times of crisis have once again ensured relief and restored vital connectivity for Chingai, Tusom and the neighbouring villages in the border areas.”
The effort extended by the various department and concerned authority in clearing the landslide are deeply appreciated by the affected villagers.
