The Ukhrul District Government Employees Association (UDGEA) has called for “Indefinite Cease Work Strike” beginning from 7 July 2026.
In response to the call by Manipur Secretariat Services’ Association (MSSA), Manipur Government Services’ Federation (MGSF), Manipur State Pensioners Union (MSPU) and the JAC of All Manipur Trade Unions’ Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees’ Organisation (AMGEO), the members of Ukhrul District Government Employees Association held a peaceful sit-in-protest at Mini Secretariat Complex Ukhrul, demanding the Government to fulfill their charter of demands.
The major demands are:
1. Revision/enhancement of the rate of da / dr at 60% w.e.f. 01/01/2026;
2. Extension of retirement AGE from 60 to 62 years;
3. Filling up all existing sanctioned post vacancies of subordinate services through state staff selection commission;
4. Preparatory steps for adoption of 8th central pay commission’s impending recommendations;
5. Restoration of old pension system;
6. Regularisation of services of genuine contractual employees and no more contractual appointment;
7. Declare saturdays as holiday. etc. etc.
Sources informed that the demands have been placed before the concerned authorities several times but no concrete action has been taken up.
Having failed to address the major demands, the government employees have resorted to “Indefinite Cease Work Strike” until their demands are met.
The protest was participated by government employees from various departments operating and functioning at Ukhrul District.
