As discussed and resolved in the Presidential Council Meeting held on August 11, 2025, United Naga Council on Wednesday announced that a ‘Trade Embargo‘ shall be enforced in all the Naga areas with effect from midnight of 8 September 2025 until further notification.

The statement issued by the Information & Publicity Cell of the United Naga Council reads “on the impending issue of unilateral abrogation of FMR and Imposed Border Fencing Construction amidst Naga homeland, the Naga people have placed their sentiments and position loud and clear on record to the Government of India through official memorandum to the authorities followed by series of agitations, demonstrations, public rallies and number of memoranda and press statements to the Government in a democratic approach with all civility, since January 19, 2024 till date. Yet, the indifferent attitude of the government demands a stringent agitation to register our rigid stance against the scrapping of FMR & Imposed Border Fencing construction for defending our homeland and identity and the inherent rights over our land.”

“Therefore, as discussed and resolved in the Presidential Council Meeting held on August 11, 2025, we hereby announce that a ‘Trade Embargo’ shall be enforced in all the Naga areas with effect from midnight of September 8, 2025 until further notification.”

The United Naga Council further appealed “to all the Naga people in the present state of Manipur and Naga brethren without borders, we seek your utmost cooperation and solidarity towards this movement of the Naga conscience for restoring our rights, culture, traditional ties and fight for a dignified future of Naga peoples. The council also requests the kind cooperation and understanding from all concerned and the general public of the state.”
