A mother and son were pinned down by gunfires by Kuki armed militants on Saturday at around 3:14pm. The mother Sorin Phungshok and his son Chichumi Phunhshok are still trapped in the field while filling this report.
According to sources, the mother and son had gone to the field near the river towards Lungter Kaphung of Sinakeithei to collect vegetables. Since the duo were within the range of the Kuki armed militants, they were fired upon. The Kuki armed militants who had constructed a bunker in the Lungter Hill Range fired upon the mother and son.
Attempts by the Security Forces to mediate for their safe extraction of the mother and son were met with a procession of women in Leplen Village interfering with the Security forces’ attempt.
Village Authorities and Security Forces are discussing a way to rescue the trapped individuals.
The mother and his son are still trapped in their field at the time of firing this report. Villagers have appealed the concerned authority to evacuate the illegal stationing of Kuki armed militants at Lungter Kaphung, Sinakeithei. The Kuki armed militants have illegally occupied the hill top of the Lungter Kaphung.
