Savio School kickstarted their Annual Games and Sports at Mission Ground, Alungtang Ukhrul. Lanmiyo Luikham (MPS), SP of Tamenglong graced the inaugural programme as chief guest. He was accompanied by his better half Masot Luikham.

Lanmiyo Luikham in his speech stated that “behind every successful student there is a dedicated teacher.” He quoted a biblical phrase from Proverbs 9:10 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” signifying that the true wisdom starts with a deep reverence, awe, and respect for God.

Lanmiyo Luikham further added “the fools are the one who disobeyed the teaching of parents and teachers. Avoid bad habits, bad company and intoxicants. Be patient in your studies and make it a habit to study everyday. A strong character of physical, moral and spirit is needed to achieve your dream”.

Lanmiyo Luikham inspected the contingents and hoisted the flag and declared the annual games and sports opened.

Guest of honour, Rev. Dr. Fr. Parvis John stated “to become the best version of ourselves we should take seriously what is taught in the classroom and what we do outside the classroom”.

The inaugural programme was also attended by Yarmi Kashung, Principal of KTL Excel Higher Secondary School and Thotdharin Shingnaisui, President of Hunphun Katamnao Long (HKL), Chipemmi Shingnaisui, Finance Secretary of HKL, Yarmila Kasar, Headmistress of Model High School and Reuben Yangya, Catechist of Mary Help of Christian Church as special invitees.

A total of 8 contingents from 4 houses participated in the parade. Miss Rinsem Vasha was the parade commander. The songs, dances and drills performed by the students enthralled the crowd adding more colour to the inaugural ceremony. The annual games and sports will wind up on 8 October 2025.
