The Raphei Katamnao Long (RKl) – the apex student body of Northern Tangkhul has strongly condemned the reprehensible actions of Indian Security Forces deployed a S. Laho who have perpetrated grave mental and physical violence against Tangkhul women on 6 April 2026.
in a statement issued by Risemphi A Shatsang, Women Co-ordinator of Raphei Katamnao Long and Paomi Khaveishang, President of Raphei Katamnao Long stated that “with utmost outrage and unwavering resolve, the Raphei Katamnao Long (RKL) vehemently condemns the reprehensible actions of Indian security forces deployed at S. Laho, Kamjong district. Entrusted with the duty to safeguard civilians, they have instead perpetrated grave mental and physical violence against Tangkhul women.
“Credible reports and eyewitness testimonies alleging the use of chemical agents, sprays, tasers, and other forms of coercive force against unarmed women-who stood peacefully for security and justice-are profoundly disturbing. Such actions are indefensible under any circumstance and reflect a complete collapse of restraint, accountability, and humanity.
“This appalling misuse of power constitutes a gross abuse of authority, a flagrant violation of human dignity, and a direct assault on the constitutional guarantees enshrined under Article 14 (Equality before the law) and Article 21 (Right to life and dignity) of the Constitution of India. We categorically denounce this inhumane conduct and demand an immediate, impartial, and time-bound investigation, followed by strict accountability of all personnel involved, without exception. It is both tragic and intolerable that institutions mandated to protect have instead become instruments of fear, intimidation, and trauma. The women of Tangkhul did not stand in aggression-they stood in courage, for peace, for dignity, and for their fundamental rights. To be met with violence in return is a moral and institutional failure of the highest order” added the statement of Raphei Katamnao Long.
