Rapheinao gathered at Lunghar Village for one day consultation on “Nation Building”. Organised by Raphei National Workers Welfare on 23 September 2025, around 1500 people from 46 villages belonging to the northern part of Ukhrul District participated in the consultative meeting.

Rh. Raising, Collective Leadership Member cum Special Emissary to the Collective Leadership, NSCN/GPRN attended the consultation programme as resource person.

Speaking at the occasion, Rh. Raising stated “earlier we were not united. We were village centric. When the Kuki invaded Ngahui, Chingjaroi villages, the neighbouring Raphei villages were a mere spectator. No one came forward. Today, the scenario has changed. Today, we are moving towards a nation state – a Naga Nation. We have become more aware of the Naga Nation era.

“We are no longer a village people we are nation focused people. We are now united for the cause. The cause will not be faced by one village alone. But, it has become a burden and challenge to be faced by all the Naga Nation.

“Nagalim is for Christ. Our cause is for a bright future with Christ as the foundation. Without God we are nothing. Our gathering is meaningless without Christ because God is our provider. We shall never forget God our creator when we become rich or successful. We will shape and mould our Naga Nation with Christ as the architect.”

He went to state that “Raphei has whole heartedly supported the Naga movement. Let us not be lukewarm in our faith and our cause. We should move out from the comfort zone and be more practical. Today we are gathered here today to sow seeds of unity among the Raphei brethren. Thrash out our differences and contribute for the greater cause of Naga nation.

“We have a vast area of land, rich in natural resources, blessed with rich mineral resources. But we must also know that, we are surrounded by hostile people and threatened everywhere from all corners. We should be very alert in safeguarding our rights and land. We must understand the colonial policy to subjugate and subdue us, time has come to stand up and resist the colonial policy with one voice.”

Expressing his angst with the degrading ecosystem, he said, “we have many rivulets, streams and rivers that originate from Raphei and flow towards the Chindwin River. The rivulets, streams and rivers run throughout the year in the olden days. Today, due to the indiscriminate felling of trees, and uncontrolled human activities, our land has become barren or desert. The rivulets, streams and rivers are drying. We must rise up against this destruction for our future existence.”

Rh. Raising also pondered upon the education system that “has been left unattended. It is in a shamble. Our morale has drastically reduced, we sincerely and honestly need to seek the ways of God deeper.

“Instead of living a luxurious life in the palace, Moses chose to be with his people and led his people from the bondage and slavery. Time has come for Rapheinao to decide their future course of action. We are inseparable from God.

“Our politics, our foundation is based on our land. Our land is God’s given land.

“Let us remember Late Captain Phungtha – the sharp shooter. Lest we forget his contribution and sacrifice. Like Late Captain Phungtha, there are many Rapheinao who have given their lives for the Naga cause. Not only Naga Army, many Naga civilians have been tortured, maimed and killed.”

Referring to the growing numbers of immigrants, he said, “the influx of immigrants should be checked with utmost seriousness. If not checked today, it will be a problem for the future Naga settlement. This is a time bomb planted in our courtyard ready to blow off anytime.”

“We opposed the imposed Border Fencing in the Naga homeland. It is another way to further divide the Naga homeland.

“Indian agents have been using Nagas against Nagas, to fight among themselves. We have seen the mushrooming of many Naga factions. Some have refused the policy, some have succumbed to the divide and rule policy.”

The programme was attended by leaders, rank and file of Naga National Workers from Raphei area and leaders and elders from 46 villages of the northern part of Ukhrul District.
