NPMHR Denounces The Heinous Act; Extends Heartfelt Condolences

The Naga Peoples’ Movement For Human Rights (NPMHR) denounce the heinous act and expressed great shock and pain on the death of four Naga Army Officers killed by fellow comrades in arms at Hongbei on 28 March 2026. NPMHR has extended heartfelt condolences to the families and kin of the fallen soldiers.

The press statement issued by the Naga Peoples’ Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) stated ‘the Naga People are in the grip of external forces adversely acting upon our peaceful search for recognition of our political rights and sovereign right over our homeland. Needless to state that the adversaries have been consistently inserting divisive tools to fragment our social fabric often coated in the sweet-candied narratives of development and economic wellbeing. How much longer do we have to delegitimize ourselves and our rights for the sake of these ill-intent narratives? How much longer do we have to allow ourselves to be beguiled by these deceits? How much longer will it take us to understand this self-destroying war strategy of our adversaries?

“The NPMHR is shocked and in great pain to learn of the death of four Naga Army Officers killed by fellow comrades in arms for reasons not known. The act of killing any person is a human disgrace and any act of fratricide is tragic and an abject social disgrace and shame. The NPHMR do not condone such heinous act. We, Nagas everywhere together, are just a few in numbers and have been non-violently defending our homeland and our inalienable rights. Such “killings” are yet another manifestation of the impact of the narratives of the adversaries who are absolutely focussed on destroying us and hence have deviously polluted our minds leading us to destroy each other.

“The NPMHR has no words to express our pain and sadness. Even in such a dreadful moment, we appeal to all and sundry for the better and humane sense to prevail. Together we must stand and overcome the ploy of the adversaries.

“The NPMHR expresses our profound grief and offers our heartfelt condolences to the families and kin of the fallen soldiers” added the statement..
