Naga Legislature Forum Condemns The Killing Of Thadou Leaders

The Naga Legislature Forum has strongly condemned the killing and violence committed by the militants on 13 May 2026 near Kotlen against the Thadou religious leaders.

The statement issued by the Naga Legislature Forum stated that, “we the Naga Legislature Forum, Manipur strongly condemn the killing and violence committed by the militants on 13th May 2026 near Kotlen against the Thadou religious leaders Rev. Vumthang Sitlhou, Fomer General Secretary Manipur Baptist Convention (MBC), Pastor Paogou & Pastor Kaigoulien and injuring three others. This act of cold blooded murder of unarmed and peace loving religious leaders is unacceptable and we urge the law enforcement agencies to trace and book the culprit at the earliest.

“We convey our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, relatives and friends of Rev. Vumthang Sitlhou Fomer General Secretary, Manipur Baptist Convention (MBC), Pastor Paogou & Pastor Kaigoulien and wish speedy recovery of the three injured persons. We urge the people of Manipur to exercise restraint and work together to bring peace and harmony in our Manipur State

“We also appeal for the safe release of the civilians both Naga and Kukis who have been detained unharmed at the earliest” stated the statement jointly signed by L. Dikho, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Manipur, Dinganglung Gangmei, Hon’ble Chairman, HAC, Manipur, Awangbow Newmai, Hon’ble MLA 52-Tamei AC, Khasim Vashum, Hon’ble MLA 45- Chingai AC, Janghemlung Panmei, Hon’ble MLA,53- Tamenglong AC, Leishiyo Keishing, Hon’ble MLA, 43-Phungyar AC, Ram Muivah, Hon’ble MLA, 44-Ukhrul AC, S.S Olish, Hon’ble MLA, 41-Chandel AC and J.Kumo Sha, Hon’ble MLA, 47-Karong AC.
