General Ningkhan Shimray hands over the baton to Lt. General Honreishang Shadang, the new Longvibu of Naga Army.
Lt. General Honreishang Shadang (MSM, MC) is the 8th Longvibu of Naga Army. The change of guard ceremony was held at GHQ on Saturday and was attended by Ino. Zeneituo James Pienyu, Keya Kilonser (Defence) and top officers of Naga Army.
General Ningkhan Shimray has whole heartedly served in the Naga Army for the last 45 years proudly adorning the uniform until his retirement. Shedding sweat, tears and blood for the Naga cause, he was imprisoned multiple times.
Speaking at the change of guard ceremony, outgoing Longvibu, General Ningkhan Shimray stated, “we are soldiers of Christ. We are an instrument to bring about changes.”
“This is a bittersweet moment as we part with our outgoing Longvibu who has been not only the Chief of the Army but a dear friend, a mentor and our moral guide” stated Maj. Gen. T. Kamo (MSM), Adjutant General Naga Army, on behalf of all the rank and files of the Naga Army
As an Alee Commander for 17 years, General Ningkhan Shimray has been instrumental in setting up foreign bases in different parts of the country. Under his leadership, procure thousands of arms and ammunition for the Naga Army.
General Ningkhan Shimray was appointed as the 7th Longvibu of Naga Army on 2 December 2017 and served as Longvibu for 8 years. As a Co-ordinator of Indo-Naga Peace Talk, General Ningkhan Shimray has been working persistently for bringing an honourable solution to the long protracted Indo-Naga peace process.
