Kuki CSO Working Committee Calls For Identification Of Perpetrators

Three months into the crisis, it is now evident that the Security Forces (SFs) have identified the perpetrators behind the repeated attacks in Kuki areas of Ukhrul, yet remain unable to act decisively due to political pressure. This paralysis of enforcement, despite actionable intelligence, is both alarming and unacceptable. At the same time, propaganda by NSCN (EF) and its supporters continues to distort ground realities and influence public perception.

The press statement of Kuki CSO Working Committee stated that “the Kuki villages have been subjected to sustained and coordinated aggression-from the full-scale attack on Mulam-Shongphel on 24th April 2026, to the attempted assaults on multiple villages on 28th April, followed by recurring targeted firings in Mongkot Chepu and surrounding areas. These are not isolated incidents, but part of a clear and ongoing pattern.

“Yet, in a disturbing turn on 30th April, 2026, security operations have been directed toward the very villages that have come under attack, instead of against those responsible. Operations conducted equally and without partiality on both sides would have been understandable-this is not! This raises serious concerns about impartiality and reinforces a growing sense that aggressors are being shielded while victims are further burdened.

“Public trust in the state and central authorities has been severely undermined. In light of this, WCKCSOs hereby imposes a restriction on the entry of Security Forces into all Kuki villages in Ukhrul until credible, impartial, and effective action is ensured” issued by the Department of Information and Media, WCKCSOs-Ukhrul
