KAMJONG CELEBRATES 80TH INDEPENDENCE DAY

The District Administration, Kamjong today joined the nation in celebrating the 80 Independence Day of our Country with Deputy Commissioner L.N. Kashung (IAS), chief guest of the celebration, hoisting the tri-colour flag. The celebration was held at the Kamjong Higher Secondary School ground with patriotic fervour.

The celebration started with the Deputy Commissioner inspecting the guard of honour followed by rendition of National Song and the National Anthem. The Deputy Commissioner took salute from six march past contingents commanded by Subedar Shri Sanasam Raju of 1″ Indian Reserve Battalion.

Addressing the gathering, LN Kashung lauded the progress and development taking place in the districts in various sectors amidst challenges and hurdles. He mentioned the progress achieved in the field of health care, education, veterinary and other sectors.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasised the significant development seen in the forest sector, while appreciating the proactive initiative undertaken in the agriculture sector. Speaking on the financial sector, he announced the setting up of new branch of Punjab National Bank at Kasom Khullen.

L.N. Kashung urged the people of Kamjong to take advantage and act in prudence with the opportunities meted out by the government in various sectors. He also appreciated the security forces and civil society organisations for their tireless efforts put to ensure safety of the public in the district.

He further stressed the need to promote the tourism potential of the district, giving exposure to the scenic and beautiful landscapes of Kamjong Districts.

The march past of today’s celebration consisted contingents from 14th Border Security Force, 11 Indian Reserve Battalion, Male Police, Boys and Girls contingents from Kamjong Higher Secondary School and Integrated Child Development Services.

Commendation certificates and Certificates of Appreciation were also distributed to the officials of the district recognising their valuable contribution towards delivering public service.

Superintendent of Police Tholu Rocky, Additional Deputy Commissioner HL Jain, Commandant, 11 Assam Rifles Colonel Vivek Tripathi, senior officials of the district administration, District Level Officers, officers from central security forces and students attended the celebration among others.
