The Chairman Hill Areas Committee, Manipur Legislative Assembly, Dinganglung Gangmei (IAS Retd.) on Wednesday had written a missive to the Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla for intervention in the implementation of the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) in the tribal hill areas of Manipur.

The letter stated that, “it has come to our notice that the work programs under DAJGUA, 2025-26 under TA & Hills, Government of Manipur which are to be implemented in tribal Hill Areas are on the verge of awarding work orders to contractors who have bided well below estimate even to an extent of 30 (Minus 30) which is a broad daylight robbery complete disregard for the quality of works and practical ground reality. Almost all of the works in the hill districts are compromised because of this unscrupulous nexus between officials and contractors in the name of fulfilling technical norms or guidelines. Therefore, you are requested to look into the matter and take appropriate action accordingly.”

The Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan is a Government of India mission to deliver welfare schemes and essential services directly to tribal communities in the state. This initiative aims to empower tribal citizens by providing direct access to services like healthcare, education, livelihood opportunities, and government schemes, thereby bridging the gap between policy and the people.
