Hon’ble Union Home Minister of Education Dr Surkanta Majumdar, on Tuesday virtually laid the foundation stone of DA-JGUA Hostel for T Vaichong, High School at T Vaichong, IT Road at Kangpokpi District, Manipur. The virtual event was also attended by Jayant Chaudhary, Hon’ble Minister of State for Education (Independent Charge) and Alfred Kangam S Arthur, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (2- Manipur Outer).
On the occasion of the laying of the T Vaichong Hostels under the DA-JGUA programme, N Shokhongam Baite (MCS), ADC of Kangpokpi District extends a warm welcome to the Chief of T Vaichong and other dignitaries. In his address, he apprised the attendees about the purpose and benefits of this project.
The school hostel will provide better education facilities and cater to students coming from far away places within the constituency and district, thereby greatly reducing the drop out rates due to logistics difficulties.
The ADC also took the opportunity to praise the Chief of T Vaichong villages, Thangminlen Kipgen, for his generous donation of land for this project. Such contributions from community leaders are essential in promoting education and ensuring a brighter future for the youth of the region. The ADC expressed his gratitude towards all those involved in making this project a reality and emphasized the positive impact it will have on the students and their communities.
The meeting was attended by Lamminlal Simte (MCS), SDO Champhai, Len Singsit (MCS) SDO Island, Paotinsei Kipgen (MCS) SDO Saitu-Gamphazol among others.
Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA-JGUA), a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs in India. It focuses on the holistic development of tribal communities by saturating critical gaps in social infrastructure, health, education, and livelihood. The scheme is being implemented through convergence and outreach efforts of 17-line ministries and aims to benefit over 5 crore tribal people across 549 districts and 2,911 blocks.
