The Myanmar based militants -the People’s Defence Force (PDF) and Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B) on early Thursday intruded inside the Indian soil and carried out coordinated attacks on the Indian villages along the Indo-Myanmar border.

The heavy presence of Indian Security Forces along the Indo -Myanmar International Pillar Borders Nos.No. 5-10 (New Pillar No. 89-95) could not detect the infiltration of foreign based militants and have failed to protect its citizens living in the red zone from invasion and attack by Myanmar militants across the border.

Sources informed that the Myanmar based militants infiltrated inside India and started attacking the border villages along the International Pillar Borders No. 5-10 (New Pillar No. 89-95) under Kamjong District, Manipur, India in the early Thursday morning at around 04:00AM.

The undetected intrusion of Myanmar based militants People’s Defence Force (PDF) and Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B) cadres in large numbers has raised serious questions on the heavy militarisation along the border.

Sources informed that border villages falling under Kasom Khullen Police Station including Choro, Wanglee, and Namlee were affected, with several houses burnt down. Choro is located at Indo -Myanmar International Pillar Border No. 5, 6 & 7 (New Border Pillar No. 93, 94 & 95) and KAKA 8 (New 92) Wanglee 8-10 (New 89-91) and Namlee 9 (New 90)

Namlee has around 35 houses. The nearest Myanmar village is Phayang which is about 5km. Wanglee has around 216 houses and KAKA has around 35 houses.

Exact casualties and number of injured persons cannot be ascertained now as all the villagers have fled and gone into hiding in the jungle for their safety.
