The Combined Annual Training Camp of 65(M) Girls Battalion National Cadet Corps (NCC) kickstarted on Wednesday at St. Joseph College, Ukhrul, Manipur.
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) in India is the largest uniformed youth organization, established in 1948, focusing on grooming school and college students into disciplined and patriotic citizens.
Camp Commander Colonel Patma Kumar, in his address stated that, “We have to take pride in joining NCC. As we all know that NCC is the largest non-military force of youth in the entire world.”
“As a responsible samaritan for the society for which you stand for. Inculcate a sense of decision making in you, which otherwise in a common life is very rare to see. Once you pass the B and C certificates in a senior grade, you are eligible for concession in the form of bonus in competitive exams” added Colonel Patma Kumar.
The certificates are recognized by the Ministry of Defence.These certificates provide significant benefits, including bonus marks in the paramilitary recruitment among others.
Introduction to map reading was imparted by Hav. Nar Bor Limbu. NCC map reading training introduces cadets to interpreting topographic maps to navigate unfamiliar terrain, plan routes, and identify ground features
Introduction to FC and FC was imparted by Sub. Resham Gurung. NCC training in Field Craft (FC) and Battle Craft (BC) teaches cadets essential tactical skills for combat, focusing on using terrain, camouflage, and weapons effectively. FC involves observation, judging distance, and concealment, while BC covers section formations, signals, and fire control orders, enabling, in essence, to “find, follow, fool, fix, and fire” upon the enemy.
ANO Pettigrew College, dwells on the topic “Decision making and problem solving. A core component of the curriculum designed to groom cadets into confident, analytical, and responsible leaders.
The long week CATC will wind up on 3 February 2026.
