The Central Working Committee, of Tangkhul Naga Foothills’ Organisation (TNFO) had demanded the immediate withdrawal of the 4th Mahar Regiment, BSF and 8th Bihar Regiment who had allegedly failed to protect the lives of citizens despite being deployed for public safety and to ensure undisturbed passage along the National Highway 202 -stretch of Mahadev to Litan road.
The Central Working Committee, TNFO has strongly condemned the brutal assault on four villagers of Riha Tangkhul Naga village namely Varekan Kashung, s/o, Isaac Kashung, Thotreimung Rimai s/o, Thanmi Rimai, Semsing Kashung s/o, Kapangkhui Kashung and Soshim Shiro s/o, David Shiro at Namthilok on NH-202 by the Kukis in collusion with armed militants at 3:30pm on 2 March, 2026. The Central Working Committee, TNFO has also slammed the Central Paramilitary Forces stationed along the National Highway and has demanded immediate withdrawal of the 4 Mahar Regiment, BSF and 8th Bihar Regiment who had failed to protect the lives of citizens despite being deployed for public safety and to ensure undisturbed passage from Mahadev to Litan.
The CWC, TNFO assert that “the violent incident of 2 March 2026, was an act of willful and intentional perpetration by the Kukis in collusion with its armed militants. The four persons, who were on their way to village were attacked and brutally beaten even after repeated apologizing and admitting their slight mistake in taking road side diversion.
The Organisation further alleged that “occurrence of such assault and brutality against the Tangkhul villagers at Namthilok just few yards away from where the paramilitary forces were deployed, clearly manifested the repeated bias and double standard treatment of the Indian Security forces which constitutes a prime factor of threat and vulnerability for Tangkhul Nagas residing in the vicinity of Litan.”
The CWC, TNFO vehemently expressed that the Tangkhul Naga community has totally lost trust on the Central Paramilitary Forces, as such it demands to immediately leave the area so that the Tangkhul Naga villagers can do their best to retain peace and harmony in the region based on justice.
In the light of the rising grim situation, the CWC, TNFO fervently urges the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Manipur, DGP and concerned Home Department of state to take up stringent action steps to immediately book the culprits and remove the Central Paramilitary Forces from the area once and for all.
“Finally, the CWC, TNFO seriously warns that if the presence of paramilitary forces continues and such injustice persists, flaring up of full scale communal violence will be Inevitable, for which the Central forces shall bear full responsibility” added the statement issued by Information & Publicity Cell, Central Working Committee (CWC), TNFO
