The Eastern Naga National Workers Union, NSCN/GPRN appeals for peace and reconciliation between the Yimkhiung and Tikhir tribes. Calls upon both tribes to uphold the values of brotherhood, unity, forgiveness, and peaceful coexistence.
The press release stated “the Eastern Naga National Workers Union (ENNWU), NSCN, expresses its deep concern over the recent conflict between the Yimkhiung and Tikhir tribes. We appeal to both tribes to remain calm, exercise restraint, and refrain from any actions that may further escalate tensions and disturb peace and harmony in our society. We believe that violence, retaliation, and confrontation can only deepen divisions and create unnecessary suffering among our people. Therefore, we urge all concerned individuals, leaders, and communities to approach the situation with wisdom, patience, and a spirit of mutual understanding.
“We strongly appeal to the leaders, elders, civil society organizations, and responsible citizens of both tribes to come forward and work collectively towards an immediate and peaceful resolution of the conflict. Dialogue, mutual respect, and reconciliation must be given priority over hostility and confrontation. Both the Yimkhiung and Tikhir tribes share a common identity as part of the Naga family, and our shared history, culture, traditions, and aspirations should unite us rather than divide us. We further urge the people not to spread rumours, misinformation, or inflammatory statements that could provoke further misunderstanding and hostility between the two communities.
“The Eastern Naga National Workers Union (ENNWU), NSCN, earnestly calls upon both tribes to uphold the values of brotherhood, unity, forgiveness, and peaceful coexistence. Let us remember that the loss of peace affects not only the present generation but also the future of our children and the generations to come. We appeal to all concerned to set aside differences, exercise maturity, and work towards restoring lasting peace and trust between the Yimkhiung and Tikhir tribes. Peace is our collective responsibility, and reconciliation is the path towards a stronger, united, and harmonious Naga society. Let wisdom prevail, and let peace be restored at the earliest.”
