A book titled “Fragments of Tangkhul Naga Folklore” written by Dr. Sochanphy A Shimray was launched today at the Smart Hall, Pettigrew College, Ukhrul by Dr. Ringkahao Horam, Principal of Pettigrew College, Ukhrul, Manipur.
The launching programme was attended by academicians, students, church leaders, and well-wishers.
Following the official release of the book, Dr. Ester Keishing, Assistant Professor, Pettigrew College, presented a review of the book, highlighting its significance and contribution to the documentation and understanding of Tangkhul folklore and cultural heritage.
The author, Dr. Sochanphy A. Shimray shared short notes on the book, its background, and the journey behind its publication.
The launch marked a significant occasion for the continued documentation, preservation, and dissemination of Tangkhul cultural knowledge and folklore.
The programme was chaired by Makanmi Horam and began with an opening prayer led by Ms. Lily A. Shimray, Chaplain, NTNBFU. The programme concluded with a closing prayer by Rev. Ayonsui Shingnaisui, Pastor, Meizailung Baptist Church.
The event also featured a book-signing session, interaction with the author, and tea, providing an opportunity for readers, students, and guests to engage with the author and the work.
