The Naga People’s Organisation (NPO) has questioned the intention of Kuki Taphou Village on their repeated attacks on the Naga people of Senapati.
The press release issued by NPO stated that “the Naga people of Senapati are deeply concerned and surprised by the repeated incidents involving Taphou Kuki village. What is the clear intention of the Kuki Taphou Villagers, provoking and targeting the peace loving People of Senapati is the question of all young and old of the Senapati Public.
“We therefore seek clarification from the people of Taphou Kuki as to why the people of Senapati are repeatedly being targeted or blamed for any unwanted incident that takes place in any Kuki Village or in their locality.
“According to the information available to us, one residential building of Poumai Naga was set on fire, and at the same time, another abandoned building at Taphou Kuki Village was also set on fire by unknown miscreants.
“While the buildings were still burning, the fire brigade, whose sole purpose was to extinguish the fire and prevent from further damage, was obstructed by the Taphou Kuki villagers to perform their duty.
“If the Taphou Kuki villagers have no involvement in the incident, why should they obstruct the police personnel of the fire brigade to perform their duties?
“What evidence do the Taphou Kuki villagers have to blame the Nagas in which two buildings, one belonging to Naga and another to Kuki were burned simultaneously?
“Therefore, the office of the Naga People’s Organisation, Senapati urges the law enforcement agencies to closely monitor, investigate objectively every incident, established and those responsible are identified and booked According to the Law.
“The Naga people of Senapati have exercised maximum restraint and all our patience has been completely worn-out now.
The maximum restraint exercised by the Senapati Naga people shouldn’t be mistaken as weakness.
Therefore, we will be compelled to react in the same manner if the Taphou Kuki Villagers continue with their evil game, by playing with the pulse and sentiment of the Senapati Public” stated the statement issued by the Naga People’s Organisation, Senapati.
