It is with profound sorrow and a deep sense of loss that the Naga Hoho mourns the passing of Late Niketu Iralu, affectionately known to generations of Nagas as “Uncle Niketu,” who left us on 18 August 2026.

As a distinguished peace activist, thinker, and social worker, Late Niketu Iralu’s contributions to Naga society are immeasurable. A towering moral voice, visionary peacebuilder, and steadfast advocate of reconciliation, he dedicated his life to the service of our people working selflessly to heal divisions, build trust, and foster understanding among all Naga tribes and beyond. Through his quiet yet powerful commitment to personal transformation, deep listening, and bridge-building-embodied in the spirit of his home, Kerünyü Ki (House of Listening) he became a beacon of hope and healing.

The Naga Hoho remembers Late Niketu Iralu not only as a visionary peacebuilder but also as a key guiding force and wise counsellor whose counsel enriched the work of the Naga Hoho and inspired countless individuals seeking peace and understanding.

His life’s work stood as a living testament to the belief that true peace must be rooted in dialogue, forgiveness, and reconciliation. With humility, integrity, and an unwavering faith in the power of dialogue over discord, he left an indelible mark on Naga society. The values he lived and taught forgiveness, mutual respect, and collective responsibility will continue to inspire and guide us as we navigate the challenges of our time.

The Naga Hoho extends its heartfelt condolences to his beloved wife, Mrs. Christine Iralu, the bereaved family, relatives, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by his wisdom and compassion. We pray that the Almighty grants them strength, comfort, and peace in this hour of grief.

“May the soul of Late Niketu Iralu rest in eternal peace. His enduring legacy of reconciliation and hope will forever remain etched in the history of the Naga people and continue to light our path forward” stated the condolence message issued by Pauheu Newme, Speaker, Naga Hoho.
