The incessant rain in the last two days has rapidly increased the water level of Rangazak Kong and has created havoc in the Raphei area – the northern part of Ukhrul District of Manipur.

Due to the increase in the water level at Rangazak Kong, it has destroyed many paddy fields and standing crops.

Reports are coming in that many standing crops were destroyed by the rising level of the Rangazak Kong at Phungcham, Lunghar, Longpi, Chingjaroi and Jessami.

Rangazak Kong is one of the longest rivers flowing in the northern part of Ukhrul District. It originated from Phungcham Village and flows towards the Chindwin River passing through Lunghar, Longpi Chingjaroi and Jessami. The Rangazak Kong and Challou River meets at Akash Bridge and flows towards Chindwin.

The Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, Uppuluri Chaitanya (IAS) informed that he has instructed the SDOs and concerned department to take stock of the situation.

According to Meteorological Centre Imphal reports, Ukhrul received maximum rainfall (91.6mm) followed by Tamenglong (60.3mm).
