The Kuki CSO Working Committee Ukhrul to intensify their demand for justice by launching a total shutdown for 72 hours beginning from 12:00AM of 5 August 2026 along National Highway 202.
“Four days of peaceful protest in the month of June end with mere verbal assurances from the DC Ukhrul. Multiple memoranda and rounds of discussions. Yet, no meaningful action from the Government. And today marks the 10th day of our ongoing counter economic blockade against the selective economic blockade enforced on us by certain Tangkhul and a meeting that was cancelled by himself and then proposed a g-meet but no follow up so far” stated Mercy Khongsai
“Today, our students stand with us because they refuse to remain silent in the face of injustice. We ask one simple question: if peaceful voices continue to be ignored, what does democracy truly mean?
“We demand the immediate end to the selective economic blockade imposed on us by certain Tangkhul and Meitei groups. We are not asking for privilege—we are demanding justice, equality, and our fundamental right to live with dignity” added Mercy Khongsai.
Our voices will not be silenced. Justice cannot certainly wait. And hence we are ready to intensify our demand for justice by launching a 72 hours of total shutdown from 12:00AM of 5 August 2026.
