The Katho Katamnao Long (KKL) has strongly condemned the selective militarisation by the Indian Security Forces. The student’s body has questioned the authority on what level of impunity has the Government of India and the Government of Manipur granted to the Kuki militants that such acts have gone unaddressed?
In a press release issued by the Info & Media Cell – Katho Katamnao Long stated that “the incidents at Sinakeithei Village on 5th April, 2026, and Thawai/Thoyee Village on 5th and 6th April, 2026, are not merely unfortunate. Kuki militants have carried out attacks against innocent Tangkhul Naga civilians, an assault on the very possibility of peace that must be unequivocally condemned.
“In the viral videos that are being circulated, womenfolk can be heard saying: “The Kuki militants sent drones to survey the area on Saturday. Then, on Sunday, they attacked Thawai/Thoyee village. What have you done about the Kuki militants? We have lost all our confidence in the security forces. They are torturing us after conducting surveillance with drones.”
“The responsibility is clear. By logic, morality, and international law, the aggressor must be identified, confronted, and dealt with decisively. Yet what we are witnessing instead is a disturbing inversion of justice, where the victims risk being further threatened and traumatised, while those who unleashed the violence continue to roam free. Security forces must march to the sites from where the shots were fired, not where the bullets fell.
“The question that must be asked openly is this: what level of impunity has the Government of India and the Government of Manipur granted to the Kuki militants that such acts have gone unaddressed? When illogicality reaches too low a level, it becomes a joke, and humour becomes scarce.
“The arrest of foreign nationals assisting the Kuki militants makes the latter’s ulterior agenda unmistakably clear. This is not random or isolated violence. What is more disturbing than the destabilisation of peace is the threat to national security. Who, then, is being deceived here?
“Every right-thinking citizen must wake up. Some ironies are born of circumstance; others are the product of our own failures and political foolishness. Let this not become one more tragedy of our own making. Meanwhile, peace cannot be built on denial, and justice cannot be sacrificed at the altar of convenience” added the statement issued by the Info & Media Cell -Katho Katamnao Long.
