The Thawai Village Authority in their Village Emergency Assembly held on 2 April 2026 has adopted a resolution to bar the entry of Central Security Forces in their village jurisdiction until the ongoing situation is appropriately resolved.

The declaration reads, “as per the resolution adopted during the Thawai Village Emergency Assembly held on 2 April 2026, it has been unanimously decided by the house to oppose the unrestricted entry of Central security forces into the village for conducting operations. The village community has consistently maintained peace since the onset of unrest between different communities.

“In accordance with the provisions of The Manipur (Village Authorities in Hill Areas) Act, 1956, we assert our legitimate right to protect and safeguard our land and people. It has come to our notice that the security forces have acted unjustly towards our community and have failed to address the presence of illegal Kuki immigrants in our area, who are reportedly armed and engaged in unlawful activities.

“Despite multiple complaints submitted to the authorities since 2023, no effective action has been taken, and the matter continues to be neglected. In light of this continued inaction, the village is compelled to take necessary measures to defend itself against any threats.

“Therefore, we hereby declare that no external force will be permitted to enter the village jurisdiction until the situation is appropriately resolved. Any action taken in violation of this resolution, particularly the use of force that may lead to any untoward incidents shall render the Government and its agencies solely responsible for the consequences” stated the declaration signed by Headman of Thawai Village.
