The Zingsho Katamnao Long (ZKL) – an apex body of the student community of Eastern Tangkhuls has issued a declaration on Thursday calling for “Indefinite Economic Embargo” against the Kuki of Chassad due to failure on the part of Chassad Youth Club to withdraw their press statement of 24 March 2026.

The declaration signed by Khanso Nakhedei, President of ZKL stated “in pursuance with the Press Communique issued by the Zingsho Katamnao Long dated 24th March 2026 and consequent upon the failure of the Chassad Youth Club to withdraw and tender unconditional apology regarding the Press Statement dated 24/03/2026, the Zingsho Katamnao Long (ZKL) has declared INDEFINITE ECONOMIC EMBARGO against the Kukis of Chassad village, Kamjong Headquarters, Kamjong District, with effect from 5pm, the 26th of March 2026.”

“This declaration is issued for strict compliance by all concerned. Any individual or group defying this directive shall invite stringent action from the organization” added the statement.

On 24 March 2026, the Chassad Youth Club had issued a press statement alleging that the firing at around 8:30 PM near Church Of Christ at Kamjong Headquarters towards Chassad village was carried out by Tangkhul militants and has appealed to the District Administration of Kamjong to take immediate and stern actions against the individuals involved in the act.

On the other hand, the Zingsho Katamnao Long has flatly rejected the concocted press statement issued by Chassad Youth Club. ZKL has appealed the Chassad Youth Club to withdraw their concocted press statement and tender unconditional apology to the Tangkhul Naga community within 24 hours.
