Katho Katamnao Long Alleges State Government Of Divisive Policy; Slams Security Forces

The Katho Katamnao Long (KKL) in a press statement alleged the State Government is divisive and biased in handling the situation in a volatile state. The students union also slams the security forces for not performing their duty diligently. Moreover, the Union also questions the handing over of cases to NIA in a haste and washing off their hands as quickly as possible. The Union also condemned the FIR registered against Ashang Kasar by Lungoulen Guite, an IDP from Imphal masquerading as Thadou Inpi-Sadar Hills. It also alleged that the Government has turned a blind eye to the countless provocative actions of Kuki militants in Sinakeithei and other villages.

The press statement reads ‘the Katho Katamnao Long would like to place on record the clear biased handling of the ongoing situation by the State Government, which unfolds because of the war-mongering and barbaric acts of immigrants and illegal Kukis on the 8th of February 2026.

‘It is very clear and evident that the State Government has always been divisive and biased in handling any situation in the volatile state. The State Government has not yet learned that such treatment only yields more bloodshed and worsens and widens the gaps of communal clashes. Yet, to keep the status quo, it always chooses a divisive role to keep the government functioning/afloat.

“One such instance is how the State Government quickly handed over the case to the NIA after the death of two Kuki individuals, when the identity of one of the deceased is not even from Thawai Kuki village and whose citizenship is still in question. The custodian of the land, Thoyee Village, has verified that the person does not belong to Thawai Kuki village, which raises a huge concern.

“Without even doing their groundwork and due diligence, the State Government hastily handed the case over to the NIA. Now the question arises as to why they wanted to hand over the case to the NIA so quickly and wash their hands off it as soon as possible.

“On the other hand, 21 innocent passengers en route to Ukhrul were captured by Kuki militants and were released only early the next morning after being looted of everything: money, cash, and other valuable assets that the passengers were carrying and wearing, and not even their mobile phones were returned. But the State Government remained completely silent, and nothing has been done so far to arrest the Kuki militants. Has the State Government initiated any visible actions other than statements on paper? Is the State Government too afraid to speak out, voice out, and take rightful action against the Kuki militants by following due process under the law?

“We also unequivocally condemn the FIR registered against Ashang Kasar by a self-styled Lungoulen Guite, an IDP from Imphal masquerading as Thadou Inpi-Sadar Hills. Even the Thadou Students’ Association has disowned the complaint and clarified that it is baseless. Such a fraudulent and unrecognized proxy outfit appears to be fueling division and seeking political gains. This clearly shows that wherever the Kukis go, they tend to drag other communities into conflicts by inciting communal tensions and sowing seeds of hatred, from Nagaland to Manipur. Such an FIR should be revoked immediately if there is genuine intent to resolve the ongoing issue. The Kukis cannot keep provoking other communities and then beg for mercy while portraying themselves as victims at the receiving end” stated the press statement.

“Indeed, if the Indian Security Forces and Kuki militants are sharing the same bunker at Shangkai village, it will be hard to stop one from committing a heinous crime, since fair-weather friends usually do not carry the moral burden to right the wrong. We seek and demand NIA’s inquiry on this issue as well.

“Moreover, what were the Central forces doing when the Kuki militants captured the passengers right under their noses? What is the point of keeping them when they cannot even protect their own citizens? Are they here only to consume the hard-earned taxes paid by the citizens of this country, waiting for their salary to be credited to their accounts while doing nothing? If they are not doing their duty diligently, it would be better to send them home. It is a waste of public money and congestion in a small state like Manipur.

“Is the State Government only for the Kukis in the hills? Why does the State Government prioritize a particular community while sidelining the concerns of other communities? Why is the State Government turning a blind eye to the countless provocative actions of Kuki militants in Sinakeithei and other villages by firing countless live bullets to intimidate the young and old in the villages almost everyday?

“Should the State Government continue to take such biased measures, it will bear the consequences of whatever may come, and we will have to part our ways forever. For the betterment of our people, we will have to decide” added the press statement issued by Information and Publicity of Katho Katamnao Long.
