MLA of 44-Ukhrul Assembly Constituency, Ram Muivah visited Sinakeithei Village on Tuesday to take stock of the situation. The MLA was accompanied by Asish Das (IAS) Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul and Ningshem Vashum (IPS), DIG Range IV. Brigadier PK Singh of 4 Mahar Regiment also attended the meeting.

The Village Authority of Sinakeithei on 13 February 2026, had made a representation to the Chief Minister of Manipur and a copy endorsed to the MLA of Ukhrul.

In this regard, MLA of 44-Ukhrul Assembly Constituency, Ram Muivah on 14 February 2026 had written a missive to the Chief Minister of Manipur requesting for deployment of Manipur State Force at Sinakelthei village, Ukhrul District.

MLA Ram Muivah has requested Chief Minister of Manipur to kindly arrange in setting up MR or IRB Battalion at Sinakeithei village for the sake of security to life and property and in the interest of public service and to prevent any unfortunate incident or misunderstanding that can escalate the already tensed situation at Litan.

Sinakelthei village is surrounded by Kuki villages and unfortunately, there have been a number of incidents where Kuki armed militants have disturbed directly or indirectly to the villagers and to the commuters passing through Kuki villages.

On Tuesday, the visiting team had an interaction with the villagers of Sinakeithei. The Sinakeithei Village Authority also submitted a memorandum addressed to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Manipur.

Their core demands are:

1. Immediate Pre-Monsoon Shingling of 18 km Lifeline Road from Sinakeithei to Sirarakhong and Construction of Bailey Bridge on the Said Route

2. Posting of IRB Battalion at Sinakeithei Village for Security Measures

3. Sanction of Immediate Monetary Relief Package for Emergency Management

The memorandum reads, “we the Sinakeithei Village Authority wish to place the following urgent matters before your esteemed office:

1. Immediate Pre-Monsoon Shingling of 18 km Lifeline Road and Construction of Bailey Bridge

In view of the present conflict situation and the possibility of community clash with Kuki groups in the surrounding areas, the 18 km road connecting Sinakeithei Village to Sirarakhong Village has become the only lifeline for movement, supply of essential commodities, communication, and strategic access.

It is pertinent to state that whenever tension arises in the area, this road remains the only accessible route available for the villagers. The entire village depends solely upon this stretch for safety and mobility. Any disruption would result in complete isolation of the village during critical times.

However, the road is presently in a deplorable and barely motorable condition. With the approaching rainy season, it is likely to become completely impassable. Further, the absence of a proper bridge at the required crossing point has severely hampered smooth movement along this route.

We, therefore, earnestly request that shingling of the entire 18 km stretch be sanctioned and completed before the onset of the rainy season; and a bailey bridge be immediately sanctioned and constructed at the identified crossing point to ensure uninterrupted connectivity.

2. Posting of IRB Battalion at Sinakeithei Village

Considering the prevailing law and order concerns and the geographical vulnerability of the village, there is an urgent need for preventive security deployment. The presence of an IRB Battalion at Sinakeithei Village will act as a strong deterrent against any untoward incident and help maintain peace and stability in the region.

We humbly request immediate posting of an IRB Battalion for strengthening security arrangements.

3. Sanction of Immediate Monetary Relief Package

In view of the ongoing tension and the additional burden placed upon the Village Authority for management of security arrangements, logistics, emergency preparedness, and coordination, there is an urgent financial strain on the village administration.

We therefore respectfully request sanction of an immediate monetary relief package to enable effective management and preparedness during this critical period.

In view of the gravity and urgency of the situation, we sincerely hope that your good office will treat this matter on priority and extend immediate intervention for the safety and welfare of our village.

The memorandum was also copied to Ram Muivah, IAS (Retd.), Hon’ble MLA, 44/AC, Ukhrul District, Thongam Bishwajit Singh, Hon’ble MLA, Thongju Assembly Constituency, the Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul District and the Superintendent of Police, Ukhrul District.
