Indigenous Peoples’ Forum Manipur (IPFM) organised a One-Day Public Consultative Meet on “Transparency and Accountability in Implementation of Development Programmes in Manipur” on 21st February 2026 at Classic Hotel, North AOC, Imphal.
The event commenced with a keynote address by Ashang Kasar, Social Activist and Chief Advisor, Indigenous Peoples’ Forum Manipur, who underscored the imperative of eradicating corrupt practices in Manipur to usher in transformative change.

Disproportionate assets of government officers, Role of MLAs and Ministers in development programmes,
Measures to abate corruption
The panel comprised Dr. Dhanabir Laishram, Social Scientist; Hemanta Kumar Ningombam; Raees Ahamed Tampak, General Secretary, UMPC Manipur; Prof. Chingken Maisnam, Professor of Economics and Head, Department of South East Asian Studies, Manipur University; and Dr. Gaikhamsin Riamei, former Co-ordinator of Centre for Women Rights and Duties Education, Manipur University.
Following in-depth discussions, the meet unanimously recommended the formation of a Committee/Forum under the Indigenous Peoples’ Forum, Manipur, to address the pervasive corrupt practices in Manipur’s state affairs. The participants concluded with resolute slogans – “Stop Corruption” and “Manipur Against Corruption” – and announced a series of follow-up actions, including a signature campaign, public meetings, awareness programmes, and submission of a memorandum to the President/Prime Minister of India.
