The Ukhrul District VDF Welfare Association Express its full support for the resumption of the indefinite Gun and Pen-Down Strike called by the all Manipur VDF Employees Welfare Association, VDF Central Committee.

In a press release issued by the President and General Secretary of Ukhrul District VDF Welfare Association, stated that, “despite repeated memorandums and representations submitted by the Central Committee, the Government of Manipur has failed to fulfill the long-standing demands of the Village Defence Force (VDF) Personnel till date. The Government earlier assured that a committee would be constituted to address the demands within two months. Although the matter was discussed twice, no official order has been issued to fulfill the VDF demands till date.”

The core demands of the VDF are as follows:

1. Implementations of section 18 of the Police act 1961

2. Regularizations of VDF service

3. Increase of VDF honorarium

The VDF Central Committee announced on 15 December, 2025 at the press club, Imphal, that if the Government fails to fulfill the VDF demands by issuing a formal order on or before 22 December 2025, the indefinite Gun and Pen-Down strike will be resumed from 23 December, 2025.

The Ukhrul District VDF Welfare Association strongly stands with the decision of the central committee and urges the Government of Manipur to immediately address and fulfill the legitimate demands of the VDF personnel to avoid further escalation of the agitation.
