In a moment of pride, two distinguished Forest Officers of the State – Laishram Birmangol Singh and Kharibam Hitler Singh have been promoted from the State Forest Service of Manipur Cadre to the prestigious Indian Forest Service (IFS).

The promotions, announced by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, follow the successful recommendation of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for the officers’ inclusion in the coveted Select List of 2022.

The two officers, whose dedicated service and professional acumen have earned them this significant promotion. Laishram Birmangol Singh is currently serving as the Director of the Manipur Zoological Garden, Imphal and Kharibam Hitler Singh is presently holding charge as the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Tamenglong.

The Indian Forest Service is one of the three All India Services and plays a crucial role in the management of forests, environment, and wildlife resources across the nation. The inclusion of more officers from the state service into this national cadre is seen as a major boost, not only for the officers personally but also for the institutional strength of forest administration in Manipur.

The officers are now set to take on greater responsibilities and contribute to policy-making at a higher level in the preservation of the State’s rich biodiversity.
