Young Promising Boxers Felicitated By Dr. IK. Muivah

In a show of encouragement, Dr. IK. Muivah (IPS), Additional DGP of Manipur on Saturday felicitated 13 young Tangkhul boxers who have shown exceptional sportsmanship at the First edition of Master Boy’s and Girl’s Invitational Boxing Championship Manipur 2025. The function was held at his residence at Nagaram, Imphal and was attended by L. Sarita Devi, a national boxing champion and a former world boxing champion in the lightweight class.

The 1st Master Boy’s and Girl’s Invitational Boxing Championship Manipur 2025 was held 6 — 9 November 2025 at Imphal. In a historic feat, 11 young boxers from Ukhrul District trained under the Sarita Regional Boxing Academy came out as winners in different categories. The young boxers from Ukhrul secured 4 Gold Medals, 4 Silver Medals and 3 Bronze Medals. The other young Tangkhul boxers who secured medals and were felicitated include a gold medalist from Nungba and a silver medalist from Imphal East District.

Dr. IK. Muivah (IPS) lauded trainer and mentor L Sarita Devi and all the young boxers for their exemplary display and achievement. “The young boxer players were selected from a training camp held at Lunghar on February 2025. With just 8 months training at Sarita Regional Boxing Academy and securing medals in different categories at the Championship is only a statement that we have a great potential when it came to sports” stated Dr. IK. Muivah. He added, such achievement requires great courage, skill, strength and a

great mentors. He appealed everyone to show more concern and support towards professional sports.

During the programme, Dr. IK. Muivah hosted dinner and distributed gift hampers to the young boxers.

Sarita Regional Boxing Academy has trained and moulded many talented boxers from the region. In 2009, L. Sarita Devi was awarded the Arjuna Award by the Government of India for her achievements.
