Ukhrul is all set to welcome Th. Muivah, Chief Political Negotiator and General Secretary/Ato Kilonser, National Socialist Council of Nagalim/Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim on 22 October 2025.
Palpable excitement can be felt throughout the misty hills of Wung Tangkhul Region. Banners welcoming Th. Muivah’s homecoming are being put up at different places, the venue for the meeting is being renovated. The excitement of waiting is running like an undercurrent within the community which is eagerly preparing to welcome home their hero.
Epchan Khapai, the Chairman of Ato Longphang stated that “we are eagerly looking forward to the return of our Honourable Ato Kilonser Th. Muivah on the 22nd October to the headquarters and his birth place, Somdal. Let us welcome him home earnestly. We are all aware of the significance that he is returning to his village after 50 years. Let us pray for his safe return, for his health and that inclement weather will not hinder his journey. Let us all pray that we will meet him warmly.”
AS Nathan, the Chairman of the Zingsho Longphang stated that “the people from the eastern region are excitedly looking forward to the homecoming of our Honourable Ato Kilonser of NSCN on the 22nd October. Acknowledging and appreciating his leadership in the Naga’s political journey, everyone from all walks of life are eagerly waiting for him. I, on behalf of all the people of Zingsho Longphang, send my greetings and we pray to God to keep him safe and sound in all his endeavour and journey home.”
Wungpam L. Shimray, the Chairman of Ato Longphang stated that, “I am very happy that our loving and honourable Āvākharar who is working relentlessly for the Naga people, is returning to his birthplace, his village Somdal after 50 years. I believe that God has opened the door for the Nagas in general and the Tangkhuls in particular. Therefore, firstly, I want to express my pleasure that Āvākharar can return home. Secondly, I wish to convey that all the people from the northern region are waiting for him in all eagerness. Along with that, I believe Āvākharar’s return is a significant landmark for the Nagas in Manipur as the son of the soil. We have been waiting for him with great expectations. We pray to God to keep him safe and may he live a long life.”
Sophayo Siro, on behalf of the Chairman, Aze Longphang as a senior citizen stated that ” all the people from the southern region are eagerly waiting for Āvākharar’s homecoming, be it the village chiefs, the women leaders, youth leaders or church leaders. We are equally excitedly and warmly look forward to his return. We sincerely pray for his journey, to welcome him home.”
He joined the Naga National movement in 1964. Th. Muivah’s homecoming will be historic and a landmark for his people. Born on 3 March 1934 at Somdal, the 91 years old veteran and late Chairman Isak Chishi Swu are responsible for signing the Ceasefire Agreement with the Government of India in 1997 and the Framework Agreement of 3rd August 2015.
