The Kamphasom Tang Shanao Long had issued a condemnation on the incident that occurred on 23 September 2025, where an Assam Rifles personnel Madan Singh of Uttarakhand, presently posted at Somsai had reportedly attempted to kidnap two minor girls.

The statement reads, “we express our profound shock and outrage over the recent attempt to kidnap two young girls, age 11 (eleven years) forcefully into a vehicle by one Assam Rifles Madan Singh, S/O Jajmahon Singh, from Almora District, Uttarakhand, on the pretext of mistaken identity as his Madam’s children. Whereas it is confirmed from his Madam that she didn’t bring her children to the Hospital. The incident occurred on the 23rd, Sept. 2025, just beside the Bethel hospital in Kamphasom Tang, around 12:15 PM according to eyewitnesses.

“This heinous act is not only a violation of the victim’s safety and dignity but also a disturbing assault on the values of respect and security that our community holds dearly.

“This incident has cast a shadow of fear and insecurity especially for women and girls.

“We refuse to allow such acts to become normalised. The silence on violence against women and girls must be broken that such behaviour has no place here.

“We stand in solidarity with the victims and their families. We also extend our deepest sympathy and support. It is our collective duty to ensure that our community is a safe place for everyone, and that justice is served swiftly and fairly. We urge the concerned authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and take stringent action against the perpetrator.

“We also call upon all community members to come together. We must address the root causes of such heinous acts through awareness, education, and by fostering a culture of respect and equality. We cannot allow fear to win” added the statement jointly signed by the President and Secretary of Kamphasom Tang Shanao Long.
